The company was founded in 1994 when Linda Christopherson and her three young children began a homeschooling project in entrepreneurism. What started with one small button machine and a couple hundred parts has now grown into one of the largest button manufacturers in the United States. In 1994, Christopherson taught herself HTML and launched one of the first websites to sell custom buttons online. In 2003, Linda met, and later married, her husband, Tom Christopherson, a senior software engineer at IBM, who designed custom software technologies to standardize sales, streamline production, and ensure on-time delivery. As a result, Affordable Buttons has become the industry expert in next-day deliveries and guaranteed delivery dates. Linda and Tom also developed an innovative manufacturing process that prints on clear polyester film instead of paper, making their buttons more scratch-resistant and visually superior to all others.
